FIVE FOR FLORIDA PLAN

5
STEPS
TO
REFORM

step1-small

MAKE TAXES FAIR & END CORPORATE WELFARE

Eliminate the corporate income tax and end inefficient, industry-targeted tax exemptions. End corporate welfare, such as public financing of professional sports stadiums, and ensure that we do not revive a program to subsidize the film industry.

step2-small

DON’T MAKE FINANCIAL PROMISES TAXPAYERS CAN’T KEEP

When planning the state budget paid for by taxpayers, lawmakers should utilize the same principles used in every Florida family’s budget. While existing promises to hardworking public employees must be kept, we must shift new state employees into 401k-style retirement plans and ensure taxpayers are not on the hook for excessive perks provided in government benefit plans.

step3-smallBE STEWARDS OF GOOD, TRANSPARENT GOVERNMENT & PROTECT PRIVATE PROPERTY

Government functions should be performed in the sunshine. Ensure maximum transparency in the collective bargaining process, so that state employees can make informed decisions about their futures – and so that taxpayers are aware of how their resources are used. Protect Floridians’ private property from being unjustly seized by government.

step4-smallEMPOWER EVERY KID WITH THE BEST EDUCATION

The purpose of education is to ensure every students has access to an educational experience that best meets their unique learning needs and ensures they’re prepared with the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in life. Efforts should be made to expand Florida’s student-centered programs and empower educators to have more freedom in the classroom. Florida’s education scholarship account program, which enables families to customize their child’s educational experience, should be expanded to include all Florida students so every child can have the opportunity to receive a personalized education best suited for their needs.

step5-smallBREAK DOWN GOVERNMENT BARRIERS TO EMPOWER FLORIDIANS TO PURSUE THE AMERICAN DREAM

All Floridians should enjoy a system of government that respects all of their rights and allows them the freedom to find their own success, contribute to their communities, and live fulfilling lives with dignity – without undue burdens or barriers. In order for entrepreneurs to flourish, Florida needs transparent permitting processes, the elimination of unnecessary regulations, and a reduction in red tape. And to ensure freedom and justice for all of Florida’s residents, transparency and due process should be priorities in our state’s criminal justice system.
