Healthcare reform bill would expand scope of practice for ARNPs and PAs
TALLAHASSEE – Americans for Prosperity-Florida (AFP-FL), the leading grassroots advocate for innovative healthcare reform, sent a letter to the members of the House of Representatives’ Health Quality Subcommittee today, asking them to support HB 423. This bill by Representative Cary Pigman would expand scope of practice for Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
“Representative Pigman’s bill to expand scope of practice for highly-skilled and qualified medical professionals is key to improving quality and accessibility to healthcare for Floridians,” said state director, Chris Hudson. “Lawmakers need to be aware of the significant healthcare provider shortages that are impacting the lives of their constituents, and they should look to these sort of innovative healthcare reforms as the prescription to ensuring the health of all Floridians.”
This bill will allow these highly-skilled professionals to better utilize their training, while expanding the supply of healthcare professionals available in Florida who will be able to write necessary prescriptions for our growing population. Expanding the scope of practice of ARNPs and PAs is a common-sense measure that will ease the healthcare provider shortage, and likely attract quality healthcare providers to locate to our state.
